This session was shot last February (I told you that I’m trying to get caught up on all of my past sessions!), and at the time of this shoot, I still had three more weeks left in my pregnancy. Little did I know, I would go into labor three days later and give birth to Harper. So, needless to say, it took me a little longer to get this session processed, but Brea was so very patient with me until I got adjusted to having a new baby at home!
My friend, Brea.
We go way back. Like, way back to the days of big permed hair, tight-rolled jeans, Eastlands and Keds with no socks, and walking up to the laundromat to watch a new boy in town play pool. Yeah, you didn’t think I’d remember those days, huh? Bwahahaha!! Oh, I forgot about the old grandma hoopty car! Ah, fun times!
So, Brea contacted me about a session for her family. I was so happy because I knew how much this meant to her. So we chatted about what she wanted for the session and what she planned to do with her images. Her and her family were going to be purchasing a new house soon after their other home tragically caught on fire. So I knew in her heart of hearts, with all that had gone in the prior two months, that these images would be so very special to her.
We met up and started in at our first urban location. I was so happy with how the boys were happy with taking pictures, even Jeff blew me away with his happy, happy, happy face! We cracked up at my belly, me trying to get around, squat down, getting the boys to laugh – I really need a videographer with me at my sessions!
When we moved to our second location, that’s when their dog made his appearance. He was so good in the family setup and I’m happy that Brea chose this image as a large wall print for her home. It’s so stinkin’ cute! I mean, er, it’s so handsome (all males in a picture of one female, I don’t think they’d like to be described as “cute”!) As I was shooting the individuals of the boys, I couldn’t help but notice how one of her sons looks just her brother, Shaun. Shaun, a sweet, quiet guy, was a classmate of mine, and sadly, he passed away shortly after graduation. But I know Brea sees her beloved baby brother through her own boys, especially the one who resembles him so much, every day.
I’m truly thankful for my job. But I’m even more thankful when my own friends hire me to shoot their very special images. Friends that I know could go to anyone else, but still choose me. And I’m more than honored and humbled to know that these images hold a special place in my clients’ hearts. For my friend and her family, I know this was a big undertaking considering all that was going on in their lives. Brea (and Jeff and boys), thank you so much. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you and I’m very happy to have been a part of your day to capture some special memories for you all. I look forward to working together again! Much love!
