Photo-A-Day | Documenting my children every day for the month of January.
Uncle Bubba.
My only brother.
The brother who made me a sibling.
A mother hen.
An overbearing big sister,
And a champion for a better life,
Even if I had to scold you from 300 miles away.
Excitement filled our home for several days,
Anticipating your arrival.
Anxious little bits waiting to hear the back door open.
Santa Claus couldn’t hold a candle to you.
The stories.
The wrestling.
The hand-slap game.
Your wife.
Your kids.
Your dog and your gecko.
It was like Christmas –
Sheer joy and happiness abound.
You are like monkey bars to them;
Climbing, laughing, swinging in delight.
Taking in your every word,
Your experiences,
The life you live.
The brother I once beat too many times at Mario Bros.,
Now the uncle of thirsty children.
Drinking in your tales of battle and hunting.
And Super Mario Bros.
Thank you for your dedication to country.
And the love you show your nieces and nephews.
