Dude is a football player. And a darn good one.

He plays for the rival team of my high school alma mater. Small town rivalries. And oddly enough, our teams played each other the night before his session – The Battle of the Bootheel – and he and his team beat us. But I’m a good sport, so I didn’t give him too much grief at our session. Right, Christian? *wink*

Anyways, I know I say this alot, but I’m always amazed at seeing today’s seniors because I remember them as children, some of them as babies. And while I have my “I’m getting old” moments, I can only imagine how the parents of these seniors feel. Their babies are grown up and heading off into the the big ol’ world.

Christian’s mom came to the session and from the moment she got there, I could see the sadness in her face, knowing that her first-born was in his last year of high school. Mom even got in a few of the images and it was certainly emotional. For me as well, because I’ll be doing this in about 10 years, but we all know how fast times flies. I don’t even want to think about it…

Christian was also very close to his grandfather, a soldier, and he paid tribute to him in his session. We went to the Veteran’s Park in Caruthersville and we pulled out the folded flag that was presented at his grandfather’s funeral. Very touching, very humbling. And we should all thank our soldiers every day for protecting our freedoms, even those freedoms that allow people to protest these soldiers’ funerals.

Christian, congrats on making it through your senior year – I know you are quite excited to go to the Marine Corps. and many wishes for a successful career serving our country. Thanks for the laughs and fun time at your session!
