I shot my first beach session in August at Okaloosa Island, Florida with one of my dear friends. We had planned to shoot the day before, but there was a major storm that blew in, but thankfully, the next afternoon was simply perfect.
I brought my oldest son with me to this session as my assistant, but turns out he was more interested in seeing all the crabs and such at this beach. We set up in a location, where as it turns out, a lot of photographers frequent this same area for photo sessions.
With the wardrobe choices mom made for everyone, I knew it would be a perfect combination with the white, sugar beaches, the pretty grassy dunes, and the gorgeous sunset. So, kudos to you, Hot Momma! Everyone looked beautiful and you could tell that they were happy to be together. Like, truly enjoying themselves. There’s something to be said about families who love to be with each other and spend that quality time together.
We shot several setups during this shoot, but I have to say that when Dad was twirling his “baby” girl around, I got a little teary-eyed. The pure joy and love on Dad’s face, the laughter that his little girl was letting out, it was a beautiful way to capture their relationship with each other.
After we finished there, we trotted on down to the beach area, and captured some more relaxed images, playing in the sand, looking for crabs, walking the beach. By this time, the sun was slowing disappearing behind the gulf, so we finished up and then headed back.
I showed them a few of the images on the back of my camera, and Mom was in love! I knew it would be fun to process these images, and I was so pleased with the results, as were my clients.
To you, my friends, thank you for trusting me for such a special family session. You all have such a special bond that I loved getting to witness, since as busy working parents, we hardly get to see such interactions. Your children are beautiful, lovely extensions of the good people that you both are. Thank for the evening together and I look forward to working together again!
