I’ve known this family since I was a kid – I even babysat the mother of this beautiful baby boy when she was little. When the grandmother(and she is totally rockin’ the grandmother role!) contacted me about a session, I was so excited. And honored because they live over 3 hours away from where I’m located and they would be making a special trip to have his pictures taken. Talk about pressure – I so hoping it wouldn’t rain or some freak cold front would damper our morning.
The morning was perfect, bright and beautiful, just like them. I hadn’t met Little R, but his mom and I were pregnant at the same time and gave birth within weeks of each other. I had only seen images of him on Facebook, and I knew he was one cute dude, but to see him in person, with that beautiful smile and awesome curly hair, he looked like he just stepped out of a babyGap ad. He was just beautiful, precious, and full of energy.
I already prepped Mom and Grandmother that the locations I choose are usually junky, run-down, even gross, but you wouldn’t be able to tell by the resulting images. Considering I live in a small town area, you’d think there wasn’t a whole lot of location choices that are available. I beg to differ – there’s plenty to from which to choose, you just have to have the eye for it.
Little R did give me quite the workout, but enjoyed every minute of running around him. I’m used to full of energy babies; I have 4 of my own, and now, one on the way. I enjoy this age so much as they are so inquisitive and explorative and totally not interested in taking pictures, which makes for a great in-the-moment images of laughter and play.
C, Family, thank you. Thank you for coming all this way for a session with me. Thank you for being so awesome and thank you for all of the support you’ve given me since the inception of my business. It means so much to me that you chose me to photograph your beautiful baby boy and grandson. I look forward to working with you all again.
