I cannot begin to stress the importance of getting as much right in-camera (SOOC means straight-out-of-the-camera, so no editing at all). Even more, when you know your camera inside and out, shoot in manual mode rather than let the camera decide what settings to use, and shoot with purpose, you’ll find how much less work you have to do behind the scenes. Because, let’s face it, being a photographer is so friggin’ awesome, but being a business person is a lot of work, and it takes a lot of focus on business to be long-term and profitable. When you spend all of your time editing and fixing things that could be controlled while shooting, you don’t spend as much time focusing on your business. And when businesses don’t get the attention they need, then businesses fail. Control your settings from the beginning, and you can control your workflow, your business, and your personal life. 🙂
