It’s not my style to do “selective coloring”, but I felt this image that I shot at the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, FL was more than fitting to draw out the colors of this flag.

The caption below the flag reads, “This 45-star flag (1896-1908) was flying from the flagstaff aboard the aircraft carrier USS Independent (CVL-22) on 2 September in Tokyo Bay, Japan in witness of the signing of the Japanese surrender, ending World War II.”

So many have fought to protect our freedoms and preserve the American way of life. Today, we celebrate what makes our country still the greatest place to be.

God Bless America, Land that I love! Happy Independence Day from Stephanie Greenwell Photography – have a safe and happy 4th of July!

And we topped our day off with a trip to watch the City of Caruthersville fireworks show. It’s our tradition, although we missed last year, and we always love the show. Sitting on the hood of our truck, in pajamas, oooohing and ahhhhhhing over the magnificent display.
